PAINTED LADY OPAL FUN FACTS

Did you know that Andy’s favourite crystal is Opal.  But not just any Opal, Australian Opal?  His addiction stems from when he was back in Wales (UK) and he watched a show called Outback Opal Hunters.

Painted Lady Opal is a special form of Boulder Opal from Andamooka, a town located approximately 600 km north of Adelaide in the Far North of South Australia, and consists of thin patches of precious opal on quartzite.  When first discovered miners found her pretty colours on the stone background so captivating it resembled a watercolour painting…. Hence the name “Painted Lady”.
