Pink Lithium Quartz
Lithium Quartz is a rare Clear Quartz with minor lithium inclusions which gives the Quartz a soft pinkish-purple blush.
While Lithium mining typically occurs on an industrial level with a major environmental impact, in countries like Argentina, Chile and China.
In contrast, Lithium Quartz is mined mainly in Brazil, Columbia, Madagascar and the USA. In Brazil Lithium Quartz is mined at an artisanal level with a low environmental impact. The primary commercial deposits for Lithium enclosed in Clear Quartz are in Brazil. However, Lithium Quartz may also be found in small quantities in any lithium-rich pegmatite, alongside Kunzite and Lepidolite.
Lithium has been used to clinically treat mental disorders since the mid-20th century. Lithium Quartz is a spiritual talisman that can help us to better manage anxiety and depression. Its energy can help us to understand the root cause of our distress and make appropriate changes to support our mental wellbeing.
Other Crystals that contain Lithium
Lepidolite
Lipidolite is usually a purple but sometimes pink coloured form of Mica that contains Lithium. Lepidolite comes from the Greek word lepidos, meaning “scale” because it helps balance emotions and looks like the scales of a dragon or fish.
Notable occurrences of lepidolite have been found in Minas Gerais, Brazil; Manitoba, Canada; Honshu, Japan; Madagascar; Ural Mountains, Russia; Skuleboda, Sweden; California, Maine, and New Mexico, United States; and Coolgardie, Western Australia.
Spodumene
Spodumene is a Lithium aluminium silicate most often found in pegmatite veins. It has a high Lithium content (approximately 8%) and is the most important Lithium ore mineral, or source of Lithium for commercial uses like batteries, medicines and ceramics.
The most popular type of Spodumene is the pink and purple variety known as Kunzite. Today most kunzite is mined in Brazil, Afghanistan, and Madagascar. It is often found in close proximity to morganite and pink tourmaline.
Hiddenite is the name for green Spodumene which was first found in North Carolina USA and has also been found in Brazil, China, and Madagascar.
The clear or yellow Spodumene are called Triphane and are found in Brazil, Afghanistan, Madagascar, and the United States.
Extra fun Facts
Lithium is one of the three elements created during the Big Bang. It is the lightest of all metals & least dense solid element.
Lithium carbonate made revolutionary changes in the treating of mental health in the 1940’s where electro-convulsive therapy & lobotomy were considered standard practice. With the efforts of Australian doctor John Cade of the Victorian Department of Mental Hygiene the sedative and balancing affects of Lithium on the human body were discovered and brought into modern medicine.
Not long after his findings the use of Lithium as a mental stability drug became a world wide treatment helping thousands.
